The Lake of the Woods community offers two lakes, as well as a pond at the community entrance, where the Children’s’ Fishing Tournament is held yearly.
The Main Lake is a 500+ acre man-made lake which is fed by several streams. Lakeview Parkway, the main thoroughfare of the community, circles the circumference of the lake. Residents enjoy boating, water skiing, jet skiing, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing on this pristine water. In an effort to ensure safety, lake traffic proceeds in a counter clock-wise direction, and there are additional rules and regulations.
The Main Lake has 8 beaches for the residents to enjoy. The largest is Clubhouse Beach, which is located adjacent to the Clubhouse and behind one of the two pools in the community. Also adjacent to the beach is Clubhouse Point, where residents often gather to have a cook-out or celebrate an event. Our resident swans are regularly seen gliding through the water from this beach.
Two marinas serve the Main Lake, one with a pump offering ethanol-free gas for your boating needs. Both marinas have boat launches, and slips can be rented.
Keaton’s Lake is a 35 acre lake, also known as the Fishing Lake or small lake. Electric powered boats are permitted on this lake, along with kayaking, canoeing, and fishing.
Fishing at Lake of the Woods
Members enjoy fishing our two lakes. Fish just waiting to be caught are catfish, crappie, yellow perch, and sunfish (bass, bluegill, redear).
One of the ways in which Lake of the Woods differs greatly from other “resort” communities is our accessibility to conveniences. Within two miles of our gates, we are supported by many businesses. These include, but are not limited to a grocery store, drug store, gas stations, various eating establishments, post office, doctors offices, chiropractor, physical therapist, library and a new elementary and middle school. Soon, Walmart will be added to the list! Other conveniences can be found within 15 miles either east or west. For a list of these businesses, with addresses and phone numbers, please click here.
